What We Are Looking For

We are interested in stamps and postal history that have clear collector or investment value, including:

  1. Imperial Russian stamps and postal history — Pre-1917 Russian Empire material, Zemstvo issues, territories, offices, Civil War, RSFSR, and Ukrainian regional covers.
  2. Pre-1992 collectible Soviet stamps — Especially pre-1960 mint and used (common late Soviet-era stamps 1961–1993 typically hold minimal value, we buy only full sheets).
  3. Modern Russian stamps (post-1994) — Especially limited editions, commemoratives, or thematic issues that retain strong demand.
  4. Postal history items — Covers, postcards, envelopes.

What We Do Not Purchase

We do not buy so-called “children’s collections.” If you have your childhood stamp album — often with names like Traveler’s Album, Modern Stamp, or Statesman Album — we will not be interested.

We do not buy large quantities of inexpensive Soviet-era stamps, especially from 1960–1993. These issues were produced in massive numbers and generally have very limited monetary value.

We also do not accept:

  • Bulk packets of common used stamps from the Soviet period
  • Stamps that are heavily cancelled, missing perforation teeth, torn, or damaged

Main rule: If your collection was assembled without significant financial investment—especially in the common 1960–1993 era—it’s unlikely to be worth more than shipping costs. Most stamps from that period are not valuable unless part of a rare error or limited release.

If you believe you have genuinely rare or valuable Russian stamps or error stamps — please include documentation or auction provenance when contacting us.

How to Contact Us

The best way to reach us is by email at info@russianphilately.com. Please attach clear, high-resolution scans or photographs–low-quality images make accurate evaluation difficult.

  • Use a flatbed scanner or a camera with good lighting
  • Ensure images are sharp and detailed
  • Alternatively, upload scans to a cloud storage service (e.g., Google Drive) and share the link

Mailing Your Collection

You can also send physical items for a more precise valuation to:

If you accept our valuation offer, we can pay via PayPal or check. If not, your material will be returned promptly and safely.

Important for international clients: Please obtain prior approval before mailing anything. Return postage can be expensive and may exceed the item’s value.
