It is sad that these people can sell computer prints as ‘genuine rare engraved Proofs’, the Nikolai II computer print sells at ridiculous $500. The funny thing is, on most their prints they write the word PRObA, in the same writing …never mind if the stamp is from 1870 or 1935 !! The questions are, why does ebay not do anything?? Because they get their 20% ?? And..how is it possible that the buyers dont realize they bought a computer printed stamp!! Dont forget, these ‘sellers’ all sell as GENUINE!! They have now started to sell Zemstwos as well Also all the Soviet colour varieties are computer prints
I have just bought a lot of “Proof & Printing Errors” on ebay. On receipt of the items I had a good look and these are my comments –
– 1904 War Orphans Fund – very poor quality printing unlike the actual stamp which was
sharp and clear
– Modern errors – certainly appear computer produced – same paper for nine different issues and appear to have been photo shopped.
I did not pay much for them but am spreading the word to be careful.
